Baisakhi, used to be an agrarian festival celebrated by farmers upon harvest. In 1699, the Tenth Guru changed the complexion of the festival and celebrations, when he gave a martial makeover to the youngest faith.
It was a strategic move made at a time when the followers were agitated due to the brutal execution of their Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur.
The young Guru, Gobind, had a vision plan and the introduction of the Khalsa was one more step in his strategic road map. The high drama on that Baisakhi at Anandpur was necessary to send an unambiguous message to his followers and Delhi.
Destiny brought him to Nanded, but that is a matter of detail as the Saint Soldier Strategist went about executing his plans, and we decided to make the documentary on this aspect of the Guru, of the life spent in the land of Nizam and the eventual Last Order, which led to the institutionalization of the youngest faith.
Watch out.
